THINGS I AM THANKFUL FOR
One of the values that the Lovely
Mrs. Prior and I have worked hard to instill in our boys is to be
thankful. Not just when someone has done something kind or nice for them
but also for the gift of life.
My favorite prayer in this regard comes from the Litany of Thanksgiving
in our Prayer Book (pg. 837): “For minds to think, and hearts to love
and hands to serve.”
I am grateful that our Creator God has given us minds to think. I love
to learn. I love to read. I love to create, I love to problem solve. I
am truly thankful that God has given us the ability to continually open
ourselves to more and more possibilities.
I am grateful that our Caring God has bestowed upon us the gift of love.
I have consistently stated that I believe the gift of love is God's
greatest gift. In fact, I believe to give and receive love is how we
live into being the people God is calling us to be. I am truly thankful
that I not only know God's love, but am blessed to be able to share it
with others.
I am grateful that our Compassionate God works through us as we serve.
We are the hands and feet and voice through which God is made known. As
such, God has given each and every one of us gifts for ministry through
which we are called to serve others. I am truly thankful that I am
able to serve God by serving others.
At our very essence we are called to think (create), love and serve.
This is the core value through which we come to know God and make God
known. And for that I am truly thankful!
Blessings,

The Rev. Brian N. Prior, Rector
