PASTA EPIPHANY
A few years ago there was a popular
phrase with respect to children's attendance at school: Miss School -
Miss Out. Well, if you missed the “World Famous Guarisco Family
Spaghetti Dinner” then you missed out!
I have been fortunate on numerous occasions to have more than my fill of
this fabulous family dish. But said dish is only part of the
experience. What really brings spice to this pasta pallet party is the
whole family dynamic that is in play for this delectable dinner.
Siblings, spouses, nieces and nephews, boyfriends and girlfriends are
all a part of the home team participating in making this marvelous meal.
Part of the magic is watching each person play his or her part, each
person telling the other how to do his or her part, and each person
pitching-in wherever help is needed. Amidst the hard work, there is
plenty of ribbing, and there is this incredible familia pride in both
the end product and the process in making it.
As the Epiphany journey continues we continue to witness amazing
examples of how our Lord is being made known. The primary way this
happens is in our day-to-day lives. We are called to use the gifts God
has given us for ministry. This ministry takes place in our homes with
our families, in our places of work with our co-workers, in the larger
community and when we interact with friends and strangers.
The Guarisco clan is a marvelous example of the Epiphany spirit. They
know what gifts they have and rather than keeping these to themselves or
just their family, they eagerly and enthusiastically share them with
all.
When we do not do the same it really becomes missed gifts - the world
misses out!
Blessings,

The Rev. Brian N. Prior, Rector
